Sydney

May 4,1999 – September 12, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Ryan on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney, Ryan was the son of Nicole Baldwin, Daniel Magliaro, and stepson to Fred Baldwin.

Ryan graduated from Sydney Academy in 2017. After high school, he was employed at Don Cherry’s where he was a longtime employee. He later moved on to work at Governor’s and Breton Ability. He was described by his coworkers as a hard worker and a very nice young man who was very much liked by everyone.

Some of Ryan’s favorite past times included mud running on the 4 wheeler and gaming on his Xbox with Bianca and his friends. He loved listening to music and rap is what he enjoyed most, particularly Mac Miller. Ryan liked his music loud and you could always tell he was coming from a mile away ♥️.

Ryan enjoyed hanging out with friends having bonfires in the back yard. On hot days, you could find Ryan enjoying a swim at the beach with friends or his family’s pool with his family. He enjoyed family gatherings, chatting, laughing, carrying on, and making memories. Ryan recently became interested in building things with wood and made a bench and a wooden toy gun.

Ryan was a very fun loving, kind, sweet, gentle, loving and an all around great young man. He was an amazing dad to his two children who adored him.

Besides his parents, Ryan is survived by his children, Nova and King; brothers, Jonathan Bonnar and Callum Baldwin; sisters, Bianca Sheppard, Carly Baldwin, and Grace Baldwin. He is also survived by Nadine Ryan. They grew up together in his family home and they were like brother and sister who shared a special bond. Ryan is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Fred Magliaro and Sheila Taylor, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Ryan will also be sadly missed by his girlfriend, Hannah Syms. Ryan shared a special bond with Bianca. Not only were they siblings, but they were best friends who enjoyed spending a lot of time together, always having fun, laughing, loving and living life and making lasting memories. Ryan had lifelong friends, Jamie Arsenault and Corey Mroz, who were just like brothers. They spent a lot of time together going on adventures and just simply hanging out. They always made sure to include Bianca in their adventures and they all, always looked out for each other.

Ryan was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Eric Sheppard and Mary Ryan.

Ryan was deeply loved by so many and will be deeply and sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he Rest in Peace. Thank you to EHS workers for their efforts.

At the request of his parents, there will be no visitation for the late Ryan Sheppard. Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception will follow at the funeral home.

Donations in memory of Ryan may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
