1937 – 2024
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our wonderful mother, sister, aunt, Anna Marie Bagnell, on Monday, September 30, 2024. Anna passed peacefully at her home in Harbourstone, Sydney.
Anna grew up in Louisbourg. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Ferguson and Lena Baldwin. She had seven siblings, Hector, Danny (June), Helen, Eileen (Weldon), Patsy (Jackie), Louie, and Margie (Mike).
Anna had many passions in life. She married Herbert Bagnell of Louisbourg and raised her five children, Mike, Noreen, Hector, Gerard, and Elaine. She had a long-standing career as a Guide Supervisor at the Fortress of Louisbourg from the 1970’s to the late 1990’s. Anna was an active member of the CWL, enjoyed going to church, and spending time with family and friends having tea around her kitchen table, and going to events at the Louisbourg Playhouse.
Anna is survived by her children, Michael (Ruby), Noreen (Alan), Hector (Carla), Gerard (Colleen) and Elaine (Bob); grandchildren, Brandon, Kayla, Blake, Kevin, and Heidi; great-grandchildren, Abbie, Michael and Gracelyn; best friends and neighbors, Emily Kehoe and Chester MacLeod.
Besides her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Bagnell; brother, Hector; sister, Helen, and grandson, Michael.
The family would like to thank the staff at Harbourstone for their compassionate and loving care of Anna in her time of need.
Cremation of the late Anna Marie Bagnell has taken place in Sydney.
There will be no visitation for the late Anna Bagnell. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. in St. Marguerite Bourgeois Catholic Church, 40 Cabot Street, Sydney with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in memory of Anna may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
