Glace Bay
Arnold Philip MacDonald passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after suffering a major stroke.
Born on February 2, 1972, in Sydney, Arnold was the son of Arnold MacDonald Sr., Fort Nelson, BC and Vera LeMoine, Sydney.
Besides his parents, Arnold is survived by his brother, Cory and his children, Clayton and Madison, Nfld; sister, Cheryl, Red Deer, AB; half sister, Jen MacDonald and her children, Ripley and Jasper, Dartmouth; aunt, Diane (Tony) Colucci, Woodstock, ON, whom he was very close to and had a special bond with; aunts, Ann LeMoine and Linda Burke, Louisbourg; uncles, Kim, Timmie, Melvin, Philip and Wayne LeMoine; nephew, James MacDonald, Red Deer, AB; special great-aunt and uncle, Karen and Bobby MacLeod and their daughter Belinda, Sydney; his amazing neighbour and best friend, Roseann Reid, who was very good to Arnold and he loved her like family; as well as his extended family.
Arnold was predeceased by his much-loved sister, Amy MacDonald in December 2019; awesome nephew, Joshua MacDonald in October 2020; paternal grandparents, Veronica and Joe Ward, Bateston, who he resided with in his younger years; maternal grandparents, Annie and Montford LeMoine, Louisbourg, who he also lived with for a while. He was deeply loved by all his grandparents and truly loved each and everyone of them. Arnold was also predeceased by his uncle, Blair MacDonald in 1972.
Arnold had been living in Glace Bay for some years now and made many friends, especially with his neighbours, who all have so many nice things to say about him. His health deteriorated over the past year and he was finally taken from us due to the fatal stroke.
Arnold enjoyed music and doing hobbies like craft work and painting which he took great pain with to get it perfect. He was a very kind-hearted and thoughtful person, always putting others first to the point where he gave the gift of life to others by being an organ donor. Someone is alive today due to Arnold’s selflessness and have received his organs. He is ‘Our Hero’ for sure.
Arnold will be forever loved and sadly missed by his family and close friends.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Arnold MacDonald will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd.
