Sydney

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Kenneth A. Gallant on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kenny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, who will be missed immensely. Kenny was known for his easy-going nature, positive outlook on life and his sense of humor, never being down, even with everything he went through for the last number of months. He was always there to offer a helping hand, no matter what it was. His happiest times were with his family, his wife, that was his rock and his grandchildren, whom he loved with all his heart and never missed an opportunity to be with and of course, his Boston Bruins. Kenny was a dedicated employee with CBVRSB, where he was a laborer/painter for over 25 years.

Kenny is survived by his devoted wife, Jade, who was by his side every step of the way; three children, Desire (Charlie), Brittany (Richard) and Justin (Ashley); nine grandchildren, whom he loved dearly and was so proud of, Charles, Emily, Lilia, Jadin, Elizabeth, Brooklyn, Owen, Abrielle and Hudson; his mother, Dawn Sweet; brother, Walter; sisters, Dawn (Jerome), Darlene (Vance) and Laura; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenny was predeceased by the father that raised him, William Sweet.

A special thank you to the Palliative Care team at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and eighth floor hematology at the QEII for all the support and care of Kenny in his time of need over the last number of months.

Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service to celebrate the life of Kenny Gallant will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Covid protocols will be practiced at the service and for those unable to attend, Live Streaming will be available on our website.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kenny’s memory may be made to Hospice Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
