We regret to announce the passing of George Kenneth Logan Anderson, on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.

Born on June 22, 1938 in Sydney, George was the son of the late Emmanuel and Georgina (King) Anderson.

George was the owner of George’s Meat Market in the Pier. He loved being a meat cutter and was a very hard worker. He was dedicated to his family and was known as a kind man. He worked for a time at Church’s Meat Market in Marion Bridge before retiring. Going for a drive in the car and visiting family and friends was something he liked to do.

George is survived by his children, Tara (Peter), Linda (Gordon), Gregory (Julie), Allan (Rose), Jackie (Noelle) and Logan (Sherry); 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; siblings, Francis (Olive), Grant (Yvonne), Harold (Isabel), Thelma, Helen, Joan, Bruce, Blair and Brian (Jenny); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, George is predeceased by his wife, Mary Catherine (Kennedy) Anderson; son, Michael; siblings, Dorothy, Joyce, Doreen, Sheila, Gerald and a great-grandchild, Isla Victory.

Due to Covid restrictions a Private Family Memorial Service to celebrate the life of George Anderson will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Private interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Big Pond, will take place at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Cove Guest Home for their exceptional care of George in his time of need.

Donations in memory of George may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
