Sydney

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Francis ‘Frank’ Darrell Burke on Friday, November 20, 2020 at his home in Sydney.

Born in Sydney, Frank was the son of the late John and Veronica (Corbet) Burke.

Frank had a very giving heart and loving personality which made him loved by all that knew him. We will always remember his passion for martial arts and Bruce Lee movies, and the memories captured through his love of pictures and home movies. He has had many professions in life but no matter what he was doing, he was always a pizza cook at heart. His love and dedication could always be tasted in one of his many pizzas.

Frank is survived by his brother, Thomas (Gayle) Burke, Sydney; daughters, Melissa (Robert Burgoyne) Burke, Geary, NB, Robyn (Patrick Nolan) Burke, Glace Bay, and Shannon (Clifford Kendrick) Burke, Sydney; grandchildren, Shayna Burke, Jordan Burke and Liam Burke; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his infant brother, Joseph; sisters, Elizabeth ‘Toots’ Edwards, Theresa ‘Baba’ DiSano, Gen Spence, Sally Antinello and brother John ‘Beebs’ Burke Jr.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Frank Burke will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.) Whitney Pier on Sunday, November 29, 2020. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
