Sydney Forks

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of James ’Jimsie’ Garfield MacAdam on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on May 21, 1942 in Glace Bay, James was the son of the late Hector and Elizabeth MacAdam.

James is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, June MacAdam; daughter, Arlene (Mike) Gillis; grandson and pride and joy, Dylan James; grandson, Justin; great-grandson, Beau; brother, Roy; sisters, Lorraine and Margaret; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

James was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His great love was playing his guitar and entertaining his friends and family with music.

Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his brothers, John Alex, Harold and Joseph; sisters, Veronica and Clara and daughter, Susan.

As per James’ wishes, there will be no visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Special thanks to Tom MacNeil, Dr. Saliba and the staff of the Cancer Unit and 4B at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James can be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Rest easy Jimsie. June, Arlene, Dylan and the rest are sure going to miss you, as will I. You sure fought a hard battle but now it’s time to rest and be pain free. Say hello to my angels up there.
