Whitney Pier

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Allan Snow, age 56, on Friday, February 28, 2020 in Sydney.

Born in Sydney, Allan was a son of Leo and Colleen (Quinn) Snow of Whitney Pier.

Allan was a loyal and dedicated employee of CBRM, Water Commission since 1991. It was a job he loved, and looked forward to seeing his customers and colleagues every day. Allan continued working through his courageous battle with cancer. Allan enjoyed random driving and loved to see where an old dirt road would lead. He also loved camping, a cold beer, the Boston Bruins and a good barbecued steak. Allan knew the importance of and enjoyed hanging out with his family, especially Sunday suppers.

Allan’s number one focus in life was to raise and love his two sons, a job he very much succeeded in. Allan played the part of Grumpy well, but anyone who truly knew him, knows that he had a heart of gold. A true ‘Pier Boy’ through and through who will be forever missed.

Along with his parents, Allan will be forever missed by his sons, Mitchell and Kirk; grandsons, Zackary and Kaeden; brothers, Michael (Debbie), Philip (Jean) and twin brother, Aldon (Mary Ann); sister, Belinda (Trish); nieces, January and Crystal; grand-nephew, Gavin; grand-niece, Ryleigh and his trusted canine sidekick, Buddy.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Allan Snow will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.) Whitney Pier on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light Refreshments will take place in the funeral home reception area following the service. Private interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Allan can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
