It is with sadness that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of our beloved father, son, brother and grandfather, Alexander MacDonald, age 72, of Sydney.  He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 4, 1946 in Sydney, Alex was the son of Hilda and the late Hector MacDonald.

Besides his father, Alex was predeceased by his sisters, Ann Louise Leith and Mary Margaret Gillis.

Alex was a family man for he loved being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.  He was always one for a good conversation or debate on any subject, as Alex knew a little bit about everything or so it seemed.  Alex was an Assistant Terminal Manager for Marine Atlantic for 38 years and was never one to miss work for he was always there to help travelers or coworkers.  Alex will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
