It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Myrna Scott, age 79, on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by her loving family.
Myrna was born in Dominion on January 23, 1938 to the late Daniel Joseph and Mary Florence (MacNamara) Campbell.

Family was everything to Myrna and she loved to cook and bake for them. Myrna enjoyed reading and listening to country music and she could often be found picking out a tune on her guitar. She will be remembered by her family and friends for being a fighter with a strong will and a strong heart.

Myrna will be sadly missed by her daughters, Rose (Fred) Fraser, Elsie MacKinnon and Barbara Della Valle (Kenny Dixon); sons, Richie (Janice), John (Valerie), Owen (Dawn) and Randy (Jackie); 21 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Myrna was predeceased by daughter, Jeannette Ziegler; great granddaughter, Jaileigh; father of her children, Owen Scott; sisters, Alice MacDonald, Anne Cooper, Lizzie MacNeil, Margie Campbell, Hazel MacDonald and Delores McKay, and brothers, Thomas, Daniel, Gordon, Malcolm, Johnnie and Gregory.

Memorial service to celebrate the life of Myrna Scott will be held in the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Saturday, October 21, 2017. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 9-11 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the service, light refreshments will be held in the funeral home reception area. A private family burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks at a later date.

Donations in memory of Myrna may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County or charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
