It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Mary ‘Zita’ Muldoon, age 84, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Monday, August 21, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Zita was born in Grand Falls NL on September 23, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Morris) White.

Zita was a member of Holy Redeemer parish, Whitney Pier.

Zita is survived by her sister, Kitty Keroac, Montreal; sister-in-law Theresa White; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Zita was predeceased by her husband, Harry Muldoon; her sisters, Bride Sidel, Leona Middleton, Eileen Mullins, Betty King and Ida Jobes; brother, Thomas White; one brother in infancy and nephew, Hugh Jobes.

Visitation for the late Zita Muldoon will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street).

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating.  Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in memory of Zita may be made to the Diabetes Association or The Holy Redeemer Building Fund.

The family would like to thank the staff of the R.C. MacGillivray Guest Home and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, 4C, for their kind and compassionate care given to Zita during her time of need.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Sorry to read of Zeta's passing. My sincere condolences to the families. I would see Zeta when visiting my sister Mame at McGillivray. She will be greatly missed.

I was very sorry to hear of Zita's death . I have known her & the White family all my life as I'm from Bay St also . My mom- Mamie Libbey ( recently passed away at Macgillvary) She & Zita often saw one another & they would be reminiscing on growing up there .. My condolences to the family

So sorry to read about Zita'a death. I have known her & the family my whole life as I'm from Bay Street. I meet her again in Macgillvary Guest Home when my parents went to live there . My mom – Mamie Libbey just passed away Aug 1. They ate together awhile ago & often caught up on the Pier News . My condolences to all .
