Cape North

The community lost a great card player and volunteer especially, for the Cape North Farmers Market, on Thursday, May 11, 2017 when our Mom and Nanny, Evelyn that rainy morning played a little on her ipad, read her beloved Cape Breton Post, took a nap and slipped peacefully into heaven with her family that went before her.

Born in New Waterford on November 28, 1942, Evelyn was the daughter to the late Ronald and Flora (MacKinnon) Fraser from Low Land Cove.

Evelyn was presently residing in Cape North, she left behind to mourn, her children, Amy (Kevin), Bay St. Lawrence , David (Millie), Cape North and Vanessa, New Victoria; Nanny to Danielle(Nathan), Laurena (Mathew), David and Karl. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia; brothers, Joseph, David and special friend and fellow run around, Yvonne Daisley.

Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her siblings, Christena, Katherine, Patrick, Marie, Arthur, Betty and Hattie.

There will be no viewing at Nanny's request.  Memorial Mass for the late Evelyn Grace Fraser will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in St. Margaret's of Scotland Church, St. Margaret's Village at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating. Following the Mass a reception will be held in the parish hall.  Committal prayers by Fr. Paul Murphy and burial will take place on the same day at 5 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery, New Victoria.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Nanny’s name may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the IWK Foundation.

The family would like to thank the local EHS staff and Ingonish RCMP officers, Cst. Damon MacDonald and Cst. Jeremy Tipper for the compassion they gave us during this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Send an online condolence.

Dear Fraser Family, I would like to express my deepest condolences to you all on the loss of your mother and grandmother. Evelyn was a beautiful woman, I loved her company over the years she spent working for my parents. Evelyn treated us all like her children and was always a sympathetic ear to anyone of us. Evelyn was a generous woman and we shared a lot of laughs. She lived for you all and loved you all with all of her heart. Sending love to you all, and please take care.
