Whitney Pier

It was with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George Domanski, age 74, on Friday, May 19, 2017 at home.

Born in Sydney, George was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Domanski of Whitney Pier.

George was known as a man who never kept idle and was well known in the Pier for the person they always saw cleaning outside around his home and the immediate area and always made sure they were kept clean, rain or shine. Some people call him the “Speedster” that walked very fast throughout Whitney Pier. George loved to go into the stores and joke with staff. He lead a simple life and only needed the basics to live. He was an avid fan of wrestling and was up to date about the weather forecast and could tell you exactly what was coming our way. George enjoyed his visits from his great-nephews, Ryan and Tyler Whalen when home on vacation. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brother, John Domanski; sisters, Julia (Domanski) Tell and Helen Domanski.

George is survived by a brother, Jerome ‘Jerry’ Domanski; three nieces; three nephews; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of    George Domanski will held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, May 26, 2017 from 12-2 p.m. with service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the funeral home reception area following the service. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of George may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.

Helen Domanski Whalen (niece) gives a special thank-you to John Mazalin (nephew) who always dropped in or called to make sure if George needed anything and to others who would call or drop in as well.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Send an online condolence.
