It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, Catherine ‘Cathy’ Ann (Robinson) Miller, age 36, on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Whitney Pier, August 27, 1979, where she resided and was an active member of the community. She was a volunteer at Harbourside Elementary School where she coached basketball and was a member of the Parent Teacher Association.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Billy Miller; children, beautiful little girl, Brya and her handsome little man, Ethan; parents, Tom and Marilyn (Phalen) Robinson, Sydney; brother, Wayne (Miranda), Mount Forest, Ont.; sister, Sandra, Sydney; nephews and nieces, Jesse, Jordan, Clara and Marshall Robinson, all from Mount Forest, Ont.; grandmothers, Theresa Robinson and Willena Phalen; Mother-in-law, Lillian Miller (Hughie); father-in-law, Billy Miller and sister-in-law, Ashley Miller. She is also survived by her ‘fur’ babies, Jewel and Callie; Ya-Ya girls; Port Hood campground family; associates and friends from Walmart and so many other friends that she has inspired. 

Cathy is predeceased by her grandfathers, George Robinson, Thomas Phalen and cousins, Allan Robinson and Derrick Robinson.

Visitation for the late Catherine ‘Cathy’ Miller will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the Mass, everyone is invited to a reception at Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.

For all of their exceptional care and kindness given to Cathy, we would like to thank Dr. Jensen, nurses and staff from the cancer centers at Cape Breton Regional and Inverness Hospitals; VON; doctors and nurses from 4B and Doctors, nurses, volunteers from palliative care unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital. 

We would also like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Cape Breton Regional Hospital who made Cathy and Billy’s wedding day so very special and beautiful and to all our family and friends for their love, support and being there for us throughout this journey.

Donations in memory of Cathy may be made through Pier Community Funeral Home to a Trust Fund for Brya and Ethan Miller, Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County or Cancer Patient Care Fund, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Tom & Family I am so sorry to hear of Cathy's passing I met Cathy many years ago when she worked at Fabricville, I remember how happy she was when she found out she was expecting,and how proud she was of her little girl and then her little boy. She is now resting. He beautiful children and the wonderful memories you have of Cathy will confort you during these difficut days.
