It is with saddened hearts that we the family announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, ‘Kay’ Pottie, age 90, which occurred Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at, home in Mississauga, Ont surrounded by her loving family.
 
Born on July 13, 1925 in Lower L’Ardoise Richmond County, Kay was the daughter of the late Barnaby and Margaret (Peters) Sampson.
 
Kay was an amazing cook, housekeeper and enjoyed preparing meals for her family.  She was a devoted Catholic with great faith. Kay will be remembered by her family and friends for being a humble and gentle woman who saw the good in everyone.
 
Besides her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband, Alonzo in Oct. 1990, son, Gilbert, sisters, Evelyn Bonaparte, Laura Pottie, Rose MacLean and brother, Martin Sampson.
 
Kay is survived by her loving daughters, Doreen Palmer, Mississauga, Ont. and Debbie Pottie, Cambridge, Ont.; grandchildren, Tommie, Stacey, Lori, Lisa, Walter, Sheila and Mark; great-grandchildren, Logan, Ciara, Kody, Jake, Joanna, Lucas, Blake, Tommie Jr., Katie, Michael, Emma, Owen and Alyssa; God children, Janet MacDonald, Trevor Allen, Germaine Sampson, Marie MacDonald and Karen Pettitt; sisters, Sarah Pyke, Anne Marie Desveaux, Marie Mombourquette, Janet MacDonald (Kevin) Mary Campbell (Dave) and Doris Allen (Ralph); brother, Nap Sampson (Shirley); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the mass a reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home. Interment will take place Wednesday, Aug, 3 2016 at 10am in Holy Guardian Angel Parish Cemetery, L’Ardoise.

Donations in memory of Kay may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
