Whitney Pier

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, Eleazor Kirton, 68, on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 28, 1947 in Sydney, Eleazor was the son of the late Harold and Annabell (Gero) Kirton.

In his earlier years, Eleazor served the Canadian military as a paratrooper. He loved his family especially, spending time with his grandchildren. When he was not with his family, Eleazor was always getting into trouble with his brother in-law, Dougie Kehoe and good friend, Roy McVicar.  Eleazor enjoyed life and will be missed by all who knew him.

Eleazor is survived by his beloved spouse, Debbie Fong, his children, George, Melinda, Charlotte (Mike), Crystal (Don), Eleazor, Samantha, Alonzo (Bailee), Cyrus, Norman (Shannon), Darcy (Alyssa) and many grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary, Idella, Julie (Luke), Wanda, Joyce, Sharon, Lena (Dougie) and Annabell (John); brothers, Randy and Allister; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents, Eleazor was predeceased by his sister, Charlotte and brother, Alonzo.

Both the visitation and funeral service for the late Eleazor Kirton will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street). Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with the funeral service to be celebrated at 2 p.m. with Patriarch Vincent Waterman 1st officiating. Following the service light refreshments will be served in the reception area. A private family interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Donations in memory of Eleazor can be made to the Last Post or St. Philip’s African Orthodox Church.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
