She is also survived by three sisters, Nita (the late Paul) Taylor, Frostproof, Florida, Rebecca 'Beck' (Wilson) Hamlyn, Mt. Thom and Linda (the late Major Harry) Zimmerman, New Castle, Ont.; three brothers, Wallace (Loretta ‘Etta’) and Tom (the late Rose), both from New Waterford, and George (Wendy), Abercrombie; brother-in-law, Frank Grant, Pictou; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Carrie was predeceased by her husband, Edward Sterling Thorne, Sept. 23, 2000, and seven sisters, Letty Pearl and twins, Mary and Beatrice, all in infancy, Annie and her husband, Gordon Davis, Hilda, Pearl Grant and Dorothy ‘Dot’ and her husband, Kitchener ‘Kitch’ Golding.

Visitation for the late Mrs. Carrie Thorne will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Carrie will take place on Wednesday, Mar. 16 at 11 a.m. in The Salvation Army Sydney Community Church, Sydney, with Major Kent and Dena Hepditch officiating. Following the service a reception will be held in the church hall. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney, at a later date.

Sending out thoughts for Aunt Carries family.
From:  Robin Cody

To Edward, Robbie and your Families – I was saddened to read of your mother's passing. Although we only spoke a few times, her obituary tells of a wonderful, caring person. My mother was beside yours in Rm #4135.at the Regional Hospital. I can attest to how much her sons loved her just by hearing how you spoke to her and tried to help her. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May your precious memories help you during this difficult time.

Sincerely, Alda Breen

Deepest sympathies to the whole family at this difficult time.
