It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Marie Champion at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney, on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016.

Born in Louisbourg, Anna was the daughter of the late Andrew and Nora MacDonald.

Anna lived most of her life in Whitney Pier where she married and raised her family.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Anna is survived by her two sons, Chuck (Susan) of Sydney and Keith (Kristen) of South Carolina; two sisters, Catherine (Bill) Bungay, Helen (Gerald) Gallant and four brothers, Vince, Charlie, Nick and John ‘Dicker’ (Joanne). She is also survived by three grandchildren, Amy, Joshua and Drew; three great-grandchildren, Abby, Jonah and Caleb; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband, Edwin ‘Ed’ Champion, two sisters, Theresa, Evelyn and two brothers, James and Joseph.

There will be no visitation for cremation has taken place.  Memorial service in honour of Anna Marie Champion will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the service light refreshments will be held in the funeral home reception area. A private interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anna may be made to Horizon Achievement Centre, 780 Upper Prince St., Sydney, NS   B1P 5N6.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
