Sydney

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jerome Calvin Cambridge, 58, on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at home.

Born in Sydney, Jerome was the son of Garfield Moe and the late Loretta May (King) Cambridge.

Jerome was a kind and loving person, he loved his family and adored his grandchildren. Jerome was known as Uncle Bunk to his beautiful niece, Chloe who will miss him dearly. He was a faithful and caring brother who we could always count on. Whatever Jerome had experienced in life taught him the value of peaceful living and that’s what he demonstrated daily.

Jerome will be missed by all who knew him.

Jerome is survived by his daughters, Elissa and Breanna; son, Theo; three grandchildren, Jamila, D'Andre and Aliyah; best friend, June Clearsky; father, Garfield (Louise) Moe; sisters, Darlene, Marion (John), Mona (Wally), Wanda, Danita and Dorothy; brothers, Karl (Cleo), Garfield Jr. and Louie; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his mother, Jerome was predeceased by his stepfather, Alphonse Bishop and brother, Jody.

At Jerome’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation for the late Jerome Cambridge will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, with Fr. Alex MacLellan officiating. Following the mass a reception will be held at the Menelik Hall Community Centre, Laurier Street, Whitney Pier. Private family interment will take place at a later date.

Donations in memory of Jerome may be made to a charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

To the Cambridge Family – I have many fond memories of playing pick-up basketball with Jerome at Sydney Academy at recess, lunch and after school. Although I had hardly seen him since that time, I am reminded of the idea that you don't remember what people say, but how they make you feel. I clearly recall Jerome as a consummate gentlemen and a good man. His spirit will live on in his children. Please accept my sincere condolences on your profound loss.

Darlene, Cleo and Family, so very sorry to hear about the loss of Jerome. Growing up in Sydney you often hang out with a select group of friends that are often your own age and who often ended up ?way back when? meeting up at the corner of Laurier and the overpass. Jerome was a big part of the group that I grew up with and I shall treasure the many laughs and sometimes sad times we shared on that corner. It is indeed the folks you grow up with that tend to make life that much more memorable and it is very hard to let them go. Know that he will be missed by those who knew him.

To: The family of Jerome Cambridge. I was really saddened to hear of the sudden passing of my old friend Jerome. Life has a way of stopping you in your tracks and this did. Life changes remind you of what is important in life, your family, your friendships and your community. It was such a pleasure seeing my old friend Jerome after 40 years. The greeting he gave me when I saw him was beyond what I could have ever imagined. My spirit was really lifted by how happy he was to see me! He reminded me of what real frienship is and means. I got to know how much he truly cherished our lifelong friendship which was solidified by our roots growing up in Whitney Pier. It was like we never skipped a beat. There were no negatives, just love. His love for his children and respect for his children's mother, the love of his parents, step parents, brothers, sisters and his nieces and nephews was at the top of his life's agenda. He did not hesitate to discuss love for his family in the many conversations we had during our brief reunion. I will always hold him in the highest esteem for the value he placed on my friendship, even though we were not in touch. I know he felt that from me too. Jerome, I thank you for the light you brought into my life, the laughter we shared and your kindness and compassion you had towards others and your love of life. God Bless you my old friend, I will never forget the impact you had on me after such a long time. You were truly a blessing in my life, although our time of sharing was brief. God Bless you and keep you safe. I will truly miss you my old friend. Rest in peace. Denise Toussaint
