It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Reginald ‘Reg’ Magliaro on Thursday Dec. 12, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.

Reg was the son of the late Luigi and Elfina (Ranni) Magliaro.

Reg is survived by his children, Reginald Jr. (Ruth), John (Patsy), Diana (Joe) Gallant, Peter (Joleen Kosolofski) and Michael (Natasha). He will be sadly missed by his 12 grandchildren, Christina (Liam) Ashleigh, John (Kayla Thibodeau), Jeremy, Marissa, Brandon, Melanie, Paulina, Nicole, Jayden, Breaha, Landon and Chayse. Reg is also survived by the mother of his children, Anna (Gale) Magliaro; brothers, Rudy, Sal and Freddy; longtime friend/daughter-in-law, Shirley (Brookman) Magliaro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Reg was predeceased by his siblings, Anthony, Frances, Nicholas, Caroline, Joseph, Louis and Valerie.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the mass a reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Reg may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.

Special thanks to the staff and doctors at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Reg thru his lovely daughter Diana, my Sister-in-law. Reg taught me how to make "sauce" and I have many wonderful memories of his visits to Ontario. He loved his family as much as they loved him. Rest in peace…..
