It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Edward Brown on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, Donald was the son of the late James and Violet (Snow) Brown.
Donnie lived and worked in Toronto for the past 33 years before retiring back to Sydney. He loved hockey and was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Donnie enjoyed playing bingo. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his kindness and living a simple life.
Donnie is survived by his son, Donnie Brown and four sisters, Brenda (Jack) Currie, Toronto, Carolyn (Tom) Bonnar, Sydney, Lucille (Allan) Madden, Toronto, and Patsy (Wayne) Musgrave, Sydney. He is also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; his phone buddy, Margie Sullivan who made him laugh; his doorstep friends who made him smile, and Tommy who made his nights seemed so much brighter.
At Donnie’s request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place with a private burial at a later date.
Donations in memory of Donnie may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and especially, palliative care staff, Shauna for the care given to Donnie during his time of need at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
