It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edward ‘Eddie’ Anthony Hawco on March 29, 2013, at home.

Born in Sydney on Oct. 24, 1930, Eddie was the son of the late John and Mary (Hannon) Hawco.

He was the last remaining member of his immediate family.

Eddie was a member of Holy Redeemer parish. He was a longtime employee of City of Sydney before retiring. He loved watching hockey especially, his favourite team, Toronto Maple Leafs. Eddie could always be found at the local ball fields enjoying the baseball games. Eddie will always be remembered by his family and friends for his happy go lucky ways.

Eddie is survived by his long life partner, Margaret Walsh and children, Donna Hawco, Fred Hawco, Bill Hawco, Darlene Hawco, Katherine Cadegan, Margaret (Austin) Snow, Anne Kuramai, Rhodina Hawco, Patrick Hawco, Ronald (Eleanor) Hawco and Kevin (April) Hawco. He will be sadly missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his brothers, Bernard, Ronald, Patrick and Johnny; sisters, Mary, Margaret, Stella and Kathleen and sons-in-law, Mike Kehoe, Pat Cadegan, Peter Kuramai and Jim Ritchie.

Memorial service to celebrate the life of Edward ‘Eddie’ Anthony Hawco will be a private family service.

Donations in memory of Eddie may be made to charity of ones choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
