It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Ivan T. ‘Bubs’ Williams, on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Sydney, Sept. 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Bosie Broomes and Edna Williams.

Bubs was a private and well respected man. He worked most of his life at the Sydney Steel Corporation and retired as General Foreman. He enjoyed playing cards and was an avid reader. He will be remembered as a wonderful man by his family and friends.

Surviving are his two daughters, Alberta Izzard, Monastery, and Edna Williams, Ontario; brother, Emerson ‘Emmy’ Mascoll, Toronto, Ont.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by very close friends, Cindy and Joe Cambridge.

Besides his parents, Bubs was predeceased by his sister, Eril and a brother, Ralph.

Visitation and funeral service to honor the late Ivan T. ‘Bubs’ Williams will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1-2 p.m. with memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Louis Ihasz officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Donations in Bubs’s memory may be made to charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
