Portage

The family of Cecil MacArthur regret to announce his passing on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, peacefully at home.

Dad was born in Glen Morrison, on April 29, 1941, just a little ways from where he passed. He was the son of the late Lester and Alene (MacKinnon) MacArthur.

Cecil is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Sheila (Mullins) and his children, Krista MacArthur (Bruce), Karen MacNeil (Darren) and Jason MacArthur. He was a beloved Poppa to Rebecca, Julia, Ryan, Laura, Sarah, Aaron, Zachary, Grace, Connell, and great-grandchildren, Isaac, Thomas, Lila and Quinn.

He was a loving brother to Gertie, Muriel, Anna, Blanche, Dale, Joyce and Cynthia.

Besides his parents, Cecil was predeceased by his son, Gordon; sisters, Janet, Mary and his brothers, Alex and Douglas.

Dad was a kind, loving, generous and honest man. He lived his life with a strong sense of right and wrong. He was a family man, putting his family first, and loved us all unconditionally. Dad never met a stranger, he could hold a conversation with anyone at any time. Being in the woods was one of his greatest loves and where he felt most at home. He ran a successful forestry business for many years. He loved music and was a self taught, talented musician. He could pick up any instrument and play it, listening to a song that he had heard until he mastered it. He had a great sense of humor, and appreciated good jokes, and was known to tell a few. He loved to tell stories about growing up and things he experienced throughout his life.

Most of all, Cecil was a great husband, father, brother and friend. We will miss him greatly.
