It is with great sadness that the family of Rachel Tataryn regret to announce her passing on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on January 30, 1960, in Sydney, Rachel was the daughter of Ann (Romanowicz) and the late Michael Tataryn.
Besides her mother, Rachel is survived by her brothers, Michael and Paul (Cindy); nephew, Michael; aunt, Sister Rachel, and uncle, Father John.
Besides her father, Rachel was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth.
As a resident of Resi-care, Rachel attended many workshops. She especially enjoyed her various outings with her caregivers. Rachel loved music of all types.
The family want to thank the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for caring for Rachel and to the clergy for their ministrations.
A heartfelt thank you to Judy Ryan and her staff at Resi-care for the loving and thoughtful care of Rachel throughout her life.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Rachel Tataryn will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Friday, May 9, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney at a later date.
Donations in memory of Rachel may be made to Resi-Care Cape Breton Association.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

rach was such a big personality that all of us at resi care will miss dearly. she was a diva and knew how to make us laugh everyday! we will miss all the adventures and i’m so glad i got to spend her last few months making memories ❤️
