Sydney

It is with incredibly broken hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of Christina Theresa Latham, age 68, on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in L’Ardoise, Christina was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary Georgette (Gallant) Pottie. Later adopted by the late Francis and Catherine (Gillis) MacInnis, Christina spent the majority of her life living in Sydney, specifically, Whitney Pier.

Christina is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dennis; daughter, Valerie (George); son, Gordon (Melissa); four grandchildren, Kole, Emma, Rori, Lucy, and her fur baby, Lilly.

Left to mourn are her mother-in-law, who was like a second mother, Vivian; brothers, Gerald, Felix, Paul, Patrick, Albert, David, and half-brother, Hal; sisters, Mary (Larry), Diean, Marie, Brenda, and half-sisters, Obiline, Sarah, and Karen. She will also be mourned and missed by many close in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides her parents, Christina was predeceased by her sister, Lucy in infancy; sister, Vina and half-sisters, Elizabeth, and Theresa.

Christina’s favorite pastime was feeding her birds, squirrels and ducks that came to visit. Christina had a love for cooking and especially baking, which she loved to share with anyone and everyone. Everyone was always happy to except her delicious treats, always made with love.

Christina’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved her “babies” more than anything in this world. She would brag about them any chance she got.

Christina will be missed so much by so many. This world will not be the same without her.

There will be no visitation for the late Christina Latham. A private memorial service will be held in Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, Whitney Pier with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating.

Donations in memory of Christina may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
