We, the family regret to announce the passing of Jeannie Gabriel on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Jeannie was born in Petries, Newfoundland and brought up in Syndey. She went to St. Joseph’s School and graduated from Holy Angels High School.
Jeannie worked at the general office at Sydney Steel before moving to Vancouver, B.C. and later moved back to Sydney.
Jeannie was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Genevieve Gabriel and brother, Gary.
Jeannie is survived by her children, Angela and Adam, Alberta; brother, Ron (Donna), Sydney; sisters, Christine (Eric), Newfoundland and Paulette (the late Carl Krasowski), Sydney; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jeannie was a very proud member of the Salvation Army.
The Family would like to say a very special thank you to April Bond, her caregiver at New Dawn Guest Home. Also, a big thank you to the staff at I.C.U. in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the care and thoughtfulness given to Jeannie during her time of need.
There will be no visitation or service for the late Jennie Gabriel at this time.
Donations in memory of Jeannie may be made to the Salvation Army.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
