Marion Bridge

February 26, 1947 – February 26, 2024

Carol ‘Elaine’ MacLeod of Marion Bridge, formally of Framboise, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, on her 77th birthday, surrounded by her family.

Elaine was the daughter of the late Lexie (MacKinnon) and Norman Keigan and wife of the late Donald MacLeod.

Our little house in Framboise was home to many. The door was always opened to family, friends and even strangers, no matter what time of day. The tea pot was always on, homemade cookies or tea biscuits in the oven, and a game of tarbish or crib was a familiar sight around the kitchen table.

Mom enjoyed dancing, darts, watching equestrian on tv, her daily phone calls to her siblings and most of all Bingo. Elaine was a member of the Forchu United Church and choir member. She also helped out with the Forchu Community Hall, preparing and serving meals.

Elaine is survived by her two sons, Blair (Donna), Howie Center and Jason (Amanda) of Sydney; grandchildren, Tyler (Catherine), Cassie (Josh), Kendal (Alyssa), Chance, Faith (Will), Harland, and Leeland; great-grandchildren, Georgia, Jackson, Lalah, Braxton, Ava, Ryder, and Ivy; sisters, Evelyn (Harvey) Timmons, Faye (Karron), and brother, Greg (Wendy) Keigan; several nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law, Chrissie, and brother-in-law, Ambrose Lewis.

Besides her husband and parents, Elaine is predeceased by her sisters, Norma and Patsy and brothers-in-law, JC, Jackie, and Harold Delaney.

Special thank you to Dr. Hodson, staff of the Cancer Center, to Dr. Anne Frances D’Intino, the staff at both An Cala and Hospice for the great care you have shown during Mom’s illness.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Pier Community Funeral Home. A Celebration of life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Marion Bridge Community Hall (Attached to Fire Hall). A family graveside interment will be held in the Forchu Cemetery at a later date.

Donations in memory of Elaine may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care, Hospice Cape Breton, Forchu United Church, or the BINGO hall where Mom always waited for one more number.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
