It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Edward Malcolm Morgan on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on February 18, 1953, in North Sydney, Eddie was a son to the late Eric and Margaret (Capstick) Morgan.

Eddie worked as a truck driver for 40 years. He drove long haul for 20 years and worked for many local companies including, Burns Construction, MacDonald Trucking and Municipal. Local trucking is where he made many lifelong friends whom he dearly loved. Eddie very much loved his work, especially in Cape Breton.

Eddie’s hobbies included fishing, fishing, fishing, and more fishing. He also loved his vegetable gardens, taking the children to the beach, visiting family, and having friends and family over for a BBQ on the deck he had built. He was so proud of his deck. Eddie was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Kay. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Kathleen ‘Kay’ Morgan; daughters, Cindy Morgan, Michelle Sheppard and Jennifer Sheppard; grandchildren, Sammy, Billy, Brooke, Austin, and Morgan; sisters, Janie MacPhail (Frank), Mary Gill (Brian), and Laura Dixon (Rollie); two great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Eddie is predeceased by his daughter, Lori and sister, Alice Bailey (Barb).

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Edward Morgan will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Thursday, February 8, 2024. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.

Donations in memory of Eddie may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
