It is with deep sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Cyril Francis MacDougall on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at his home in Sydney.

Francis was born and raised in Ingonish to the late Thomas and Elsie (MacIntyre) MacDougall.

Francis worked over 40 plus years in the carpentry trade, specializing in drywall. He loved playing golf with his friends and enjoyed a friendly party always cheering for his favorite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Francis was the proud father of one son, Thomas (Nadine) MacDougall, who he loved with all his heart. Francis is survived by his grandchildren, Layla, Shamus and Harper; step-grandchildren, Carter, Jane, Conrad; and partner, Marie Leblanc. Also left to mourn are his siblings, Diane Ellerback, Georgina Furman, Freddie, Daniel, Eydie (Lester) Barkhouse, Linda (Arnold) Conrad, Greg (Marlene) MacDougall, David (Glora) MacDougall; as well as numerous nieces nephews and many friends.

Besides his parents, Francis was predeceased by his siblings, Thomas, Mary Levy, Christine (Doug) Coolen, Andy (Evelyn) MacDougall, Bernie MacDougall; sister-in-law, Linda MacDougall; Brothers-in-law, Jim Furman, Bernie Levy and sisters, Margaret and Bernice, who both died at infancy.

Memorial service to celebrate the life of Francis MacDougall will be announced at a later date.

Donations in memory of Francis may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
