Sydney
It is with broken hearts that we, the family announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, ‘Memaw’ and sister, Ann Lamson, age 71, on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Hospital, Sydney.
Born on January 25, 1952, in Sydney, Ann was a daughter of the late Robert and Eileen (Cuff) Lamson.
In her younger days, Ann worked at the Maple Leaf restaurant then the Cove Guest Home. After meeting her former husband, Allan, Ann moved to Newfoundland, had her pride and joy, Cathy, where they lived for several years before moving back to Cape Breton in the early 80โs. Upon returning, Ann continued working at the Cove Guest Home until her retirement.
In her spare time, Ann enjoyed going to bingo, playing cards, listening to country music and making ceramics. Above everything, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her great-granddaughter, Sophie.
Ann is survived by her loving daughter, Cathy Roston (Arno); precious granddaughters, Alyssa (Dylan), Jenna (Jarret) and Chloe (Cameron); step-grandson, Jonathan (Alissa); great-granddaughter, Sophie; step great-granddaughter, Meadow and soon to be great-granddaughter. Callie. Ann is also survived by her brothers, Donnie (Shirley) and Wayne; sisters, Kathy, Debbie, and Delores (Alex); sister-in-law, Chris; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ann will be missed by her good friends at the William Street Seniors Complex in Whitney Pier and by her good friend, Greg Bonaparte, they enjoyed their weekly phones calls.
Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by her brothers, Dougie and Glenn and good companion, Felix Anderson.
The family would like to thank Shauna West for being there to help with anything extra that Ann needed, the nursing staff of the VON, City Homemakers, staff of 4C, sitters, and Dr. Lisa MacInnis, who took exceptional care of her in hospital. The family also give thanks to Dr. Munshi and Dr. Jennifer MacDonald for the exceptional care provided to Ann over the years.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Ann Lamson will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 6:30 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
