With heavy hearts we, the family announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Philip William Lahey, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family.

Born on February 9, 1945, in Swansea, UK, Philip was a son to the late James I. and Gwenny (Howell) Lahey.

Philip is survived by his loving wife, Iris; sons, Eugene and Frank (Kathy); daughters-in-law, Alison, and Karen (Clayton), a woman he looked at as a daughter; grandchildren, Paige, Taylor, Mason, Kali and Daneshia; brothers, Gwynne, and Haydn (Ann); sisters, Gwyneth Philips, Martha, Wendy (Ken), and Thelma (Sandy); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Philip was predeceased by his son, Blair; brother, Raymond (Monica); niece, Kimberley Dawn, and brother-in-law, Robert.

Philip worked at Malcom S. MacDonald for many years. He was treated as part of their family and left early due to sickness, but they made sure to keep in touch with him. Philip was a very hardworking, outgoing man who always knew how to give a helping hand. He was a mentor to many and held a special place in everyone’s hearts.

Thank you to his family doctor, Dr. Liam Orrell, Palliative Care staff and the VON. A special thank you to Philip’s granddaughter, Daneshia, for her loving care that she provided for her grandfather.

In keeping with Philip’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.

Donations in memory of Philip may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
