It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Francis Alec Rolls on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born on December 3, 1937, in Sydney, Alec was the son of the late Samuel and Annabelle (MacKinnon) Rolls.

Alec had a great joy of playing the harmonica and loved to show off his talent to his family and friends, especially his granddaughter who would always want to dance to her grandfather’s music. In Alec’s younger days he worked and lived in Ontario with his wife and son before moving to Sydney, NS where he enjoyed retirement. Alec with be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Alec is survived by his wife, Juanita; son, Ian (Joy); grandchildren, Brandon and Kaelyn; brother, John Rolls (Diane) and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Besides his parents, Alec was predeceased by sister, Amelia and brothers, Ernest and Edger.

Visitation for the late Alec Rolls will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Friday, November 4, 2022, from 6-9 pm.  A celebration of Alec’s life will be held in the funeral home in the All Faith Chapel on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. A reception will take place in the funeral home followed by interment in Eastmount Cemetery, Whitney Pier.

Donations in memory of Alec may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
