The family of Judy MacNeil regret to announce her passing on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born on April 29, 1949, in Sydney, Judy was the daughter of the late Arthur and Emily (Mollon) Dunn.

Born and raised on Mira Road, Judy loved to take care of people and was always there for a shoulder to cry on. She enjoyed playing tarabish and darts and will be missed by all who knew her.

Judy is survived by her children, Troy and Melissa; grandchildren, Meagan, Patrick, Christina, Brandon and Nathan; siblings, Evelyn, Donna (Ronnie), Danny (Adrianne), June (Leo), Robert (Margarita), Gordie (Sis), and Coralee; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own and former companion, Eddie Hart.

Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband, Patty MacNeil and sisters, Mary Rose and Ardith.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Judy MacNeil will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Sunday, November 20, 2022. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Sydney, at a later date.

In lieu of flower, donations in memory of Judy may be made to the SPCA, Cape Breton Chapter.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

My family sends their heartfelt condolences to The MacNeil family and to her siblings. She was a wonderful lady who we were lucky enough to meet a handful of times when Dave and I were visiting back home. Judy will remain in your hearts and ours forever.
