It is with great sadness that we, the family of Mildred ‘Millie’ MacDonald, age 95, announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother at the MacGillivray Guest Home on Thursday, November 24, 2022, with her family by her side.

Born in Whitney Pier on September 17, 1927, to the late Edwin and Maude (Howell) Fifield, Millie was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and she touched the lives of many.

Throughout her life Millie was an ambassador of happiness and was always there for anyone who needed a shoulder to lean on.

Millie is survived by her children, Donna (John David) McLaughlin, Kenneth (Karen) MacDonald and Brenda (Billy) Cox; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy; brothers, Eddy (Betty) Fifield and Leonard Fifield as well as many nieces and nephews who she thought the world of.

Besides her parents Millie was predeceased by her husband, Donald MacDonald; son, Gordon MacDonald; sisters, Dorothy, Shirley, June and brother, Arthur.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the residents and staff at the MacGillivray Guest Home for the exceptional care provided to Millie during her time with them over the past number of years. We would also like to extend a thank you to the staff at the Renal Dialysis Unit and Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their wonderful care the past couple of years.

(entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating. Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery, Marion Bridge at a later date. Following the service there will be a reception at the funeral home.
