It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Charles Donald Rose on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at home.

Born on June 15, 1936, in Sydney, Charles was the son of the late Harold and Edith (Rolls) Rose.

Charles worked for many years in the coke ovens and then on the Comberline Railway before becoming a journeyman carpenter later in life. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his retirement fishing and hunting when he wasn’t giving a helping hand to neighbours and friends. Charles will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charles is survived by his wife, Ellen Rose; children, Charles Donnie Jr., Nigel Rose, and Darlene Wentzell; sisters, Laura, Delores and Audrey; grandchildren, Tania, Byron, Gerald, Robert, Melanie, Sarah, Lucas, Jacob, Jordan and great-grandchildren, Aliana, Navy and Brier.

Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his brother, Alfred; sisters, Alvina, Diane and daughter, Brenda Diane Rose.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Charles Rose will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Saturday, November 12, 2022. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 12:30 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the service there will be a time of food and fellowship in the reception area of the funeral home. Interment will take place in New Calvary Cemetery, Whitney Pier.

Donations in memory of Charles may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
