We, the family, regret to announce the passing of Michael Joseph Roach on Friday, May 6, 2022, in Sydney.
Born on May 29, 1943, in Sydney, and raised in Whitney Pier, Michael was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (MacDonald) Roach.
Michael was a member, Company B, of The Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment of Canada.
Michael leaves behind his children, Cheryl (Bob), Tracey (Gil), and son, Kelly Roach; sisters, Anne Marie (late Charles) Hicks, and Theresa (Bruce); grandchildren, Christine, Nicole, Christopher (Lisa) and Téa; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Melina, Ana, Victoria, Charlie, and Erica; great-great-grandson, Benjamin; as well as nieces, nephews, and their children.
Besides his parents, Michael is predeceased by his first wife, Mary Christina (MacNeil) and second wife, Eunice (Hatch).
Memorial service to celebrate the life of Michael Roach will be held in Ontario. Michael’s fondest memories were in Whitney Pier, he will be laid to rest in new Calvary Cemetery, Brooks Street, (POSTPONED) on July 23, 2022, at 2 p.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Following the committal, a reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be made to the Last Post Fund in his name.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
