It is with a heavy sad heart that we, the family, announce the passing of a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, June (Fifield) Williams, age 85. June passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born on June 30, 1936, in Sydney, June was the daughter of the late Edwin and Maude (Howell) Fifield.

June will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband, James ‘Jim’ Williams; daughter, Valerie (Charlie Jr) Edwards; son, David Williams, Alix, AB; grandchildren, Ronnie (Roxanne) Edwards, Dylan and Sydney Williams; great-grandchildren, Keygan and Lexi Edwards; sister, Mildred MacDonald; brothers, Edwin (Betty) Fifield, Ontario and Dr. Leonard Fifield, Halifax; brothers-in-law, Buddy Joseph and Ken Cross; sisters-in-law, Elsie (Fred) Furlong, Helen Williams, Edna Williams and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, June was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy ‘Dot’ Cross, and Shirley Joseph; brother, Art Fifield; sisters-in-law, Bernice Fifield and Carolyn Fifield and brother-in-law, Donald MacDonald.

June will be fondly remembered for her singing in the kitchen while cooking for family and friends who came home in the summer for a visit. She also enjoyed attending Bible study classes with her sister Millie.

A heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of 4C at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Dr. Steven Hall and staff, VON day care program and New Dawn Home Care, and Maggie Roach-Ganaway for your support group meetings on Dementia. Special thanks to Cheryl Williams, Sharon and Brian MacNeil for your meals and your ongoing support to June through the years.

Their will be no visitation for the late June Williams. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Donations in memory of June may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia and the SPCA Cape Breton Branch.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
