Sydney

It is with tremendous sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our brother, David James Budge, age 65, on Thursday, April 7, 2022.

Born in New Waterford on November 14, 1956, David was the son to the late Edgar Budge and Utah (Nearing) McLean.

When you couldn’t find David riding around town on his Scooter, you could be sure to find him fishing with family and friends. He loved the outdoors, being in the bush and enjoying nature, but he found the most joy when spending time with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He had no children of his own, so he had a very special and close relationship with all his nieces and nephews, “Love a, Love a, Love you”.

David is survived by his brothers, Raymond, Kevin, Stephen (Wanda), Robert (Mona), and Tim (Sandra); sisters, Anna (Leo), Beth (Dareel), Maureen (Gary) and oodles and oodles of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Besides his parents, David is predeceased by his sisters, Darleen Nitsch and Elizabeth (in infancy).

A special thank you to Aunt Jean and her family for the wonderful gift to David. He always had a special place in their hearts. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Cape Breton Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion.

There will be no visitation for the late David Budge There will be a graveside funeral service held at Union Grove Cemetery, Catherine Street, Scotchtown on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.

Donations in memory of David may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or the Cape Breton Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
