Whitney Pier

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Harry Magliaro after a short illness.

Born on May 17, 1957, Nicky was a proud ‘Pier Boy’ and the son of the late Nick and Sylvia (Petten) Magliaro.

Nicky was a labourer for many years, most of which were out west. He made a number of friends, to which he always stayed in contact with.

Nicky loved to fish and would enjoy giving away the “catch of the day” to friends. Always on the move, Nicky was always up for a drive and a coffee. He loved his vehicles and keeping them shining, especially “Big Red”.

Besides his parents, Nicky was predeceased by his sister, Gina.

Nicky is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karen (MacNeil); son, Nicholas, his pride and joy; stepmother, Janette Magliaro (Lloyd); sisters, Anna (Tom), Maureen, and Valerie (Robert); as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Lawand, Dr. Saliba and all the doctors who had Nicky in their care during his illness. Also our sincere thanks to all the marvelous nurses who took care of Nicky during his many visits to the hospital. Always inquisitive, he made sure he knew their names, their parent’s names and where they were from.

We would also like to sincerely thank Nicky’s nephew, Kenny; his brother-in-law, Tom and good friend, Timmy. They were always there to make sure he made all his appointments, took him for drives and kept his spirits high.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Nicholas Magliaro will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Monday, March 28, 2022. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating.

Covid protocols will be practiced at the service.

Donations in memory of Nicky may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

“Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest”
