It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved mother, Eva Marie Bobyk on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born on August 6, 1938, in Glace Bay, Eva was the daughter of the late Ralph and Catherine (Young) Wood.
Eva is survived by her daughters, Anne Marie Bobyk (Peter), Mary Catherine (Chris) Bobyk-Lewis, and Sandra Louise (Ken) Bobyk-Bereta; grandchildren, William and Caylee; siblings, Ralphina, Julia, Patricia, and Ralph; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Eva was predeceased by her husband, William; siblings, Catherine, John and a sister in infancy.
There will be no visitation for the late Eva Marie Bobyk. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Roman Dusanowsky officiating. Interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
Covid protocols will be practiced at the services.
Donations in memory of Eva may be made to the Alzheimer Society, www.Alzheimer’s.ca or the Cape Breton Chapter of the SPCA, www.novascotiaspca.ca
We, the family, would like to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Mira Bay at Kimberly Hall for the excellent care and affection given to our beautiful Mom.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Anne Marie, Mary and Sandra…Erica and I are so sorry to learn of the death of your Mom. Always pleasant and exceptionally proud of the three of you, she will be missed. It was my intention to come to Sydney to be with you three for the funeral this morning but threatening weather has made me think twice so unfortunately I will not be there. But please know you are all in our thoughts and our prayers. Your Mom has been so kind to Erica and I over the years, bringing us baked treats at Church and always stopping to have a chat.
