Sydney

With great sorrow, we the family, announce the peaceful passing of Norma Jean ‘Jeannie’ MacPherson on November 5, 2019 at the Cove Guest Home in Sydney with her devoted daughters by her side.

Jeannie was the daughter of the late Earl and Allie (Black) Reid.  Besides her parents, Jeannie was predeceased by her loving husband, George in 2015.

Throughout her life, Jeannie worked at various businesses including Alexandra Street Coop and MacMullin’s Esso.  Above all, Jeannie was a wonderful caregiver to her entire family.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Kari (Russell) and Allana (Chris), who treasured every moment they spent with their Mother.  Jeannie will be forever remembered by her adoring grandson, Dawson Martin, who was the apple of his grandmother’s eye and special granddaughter, Melanie Sampson.  Also, deeply mourning Jeannie’s passing is her only brother, Earl (Evelyn) Reid and their children, Robert, Mark and Jennifer.  The kindness of Jeannie’s soul will live on in the memories of all that knew her.

Memorial service to celebrate the life of Norma Jean MacPherson will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 3 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. A light lunch will be served in the funeral home reception area following the service. Private family interment will be held at a later date.

We would like to extend our appreciation to Jeannie’s longtime physician, Dr. Archibald and the staff at the Cove Guest Home for caring for mom. To the Palliative Care team and to special friend, Laurena Clance for always being there for mom, we thank you.

Donations in memory of Jeannie may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Pier Community Funeral Home.
