Whitney Pier

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Diane Dye, 64, on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Glace Bay, Diane was the daughter of the late George and Edna (Dean) Pottie.

Diane was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who dedicated most of her life caring for her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards and a good cup of Tim Horton coffee. She also loved and enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Her biggest joy was being with her family. Diane will be remembered by her family and friends for being loving, kind hearted and for having a special place in her heart for all children, especially those in need.

Diane is survived by her husband, Eugene Dye; children, Terry (Vanessa Ponee), Claudine (Billy) Rohrback, George (Wendy Dupe), Fred (Cara Leroy) and Blain; sister, Priscilla; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and a lifelong close friend, Marie Chiasson.

Besides her parents, Diane was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph, George, Donnie and Dougie.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Diane Marie Dye will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Saturday, January 7, 2017. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10-11 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service. Private family interment will take place at a later date.

Donations in memory of Diane may be made to Boys and Girls Clubs of Cape Breton-Whitney Pier or Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
