It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John ‘Jack’ Snow, at the age of 76.  Jack passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

Born in Sydney, Jack was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Alice Snow. 

Jack was a lifelong employee of the Railway Dept. of Sydney Steel and cherished the many friendships he made throughout his working career. Jack will be missed by all who knew him.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jane ‘Janie’ MacDonald; children, Archie, Lilly, Susie (Darren), Cara-Leah (Emad) and grandchildren, Brayson, Cail, Kyle, JD, Jaad and Amira. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Hoban and Ann Marie MacQueen; brother, Douglas, as well as several nieces and nephews. Jack will be missed by his faithful dog, Jake.

Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sister, Veronica MacEachern and brothers, Melvin, Donald, Gregory and William.

A gathering of family and friends for the late John ‘Jack’ Snow will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be announced in the Cape Breton Post at a later date.

Donations in memory of Jack may be made to charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

I miss you Jack! You left us so soon and despite the grieve this left in our hearts, I know this quick departure was a blessing to you. I remember the last time we spoke recently the first words that came out of his mouth were "how is your back Emad?" That was the kind of person I knew in Jack…..caring, selfless, unpretentious. You were a wonderful grandfather and a father-in-law. You will live forever in our hearts. Rest in peace Jack. Emad
