It is with great sadness that we, his family announce the passing of Allen Cornelius MacPherson, 77, on April 21, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Allen was born in South Harbour, Victoria County on Jan. 15, 1938, to the late Charles and Mary (Rambeau) MacPherson.

Allen is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Blaine) Dicks, Northside East Bay, with whom he resided; sons, Quinten, Sydney, and Michael, Courtenay, B.C.; two grandchildren in B.C.; sister, Faye (Aubrey) Smith, Dartmouth; brothers, George (Maree) and Stewart (Betty), both in B.C., and Murdock (Pearl), Alder Point; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Allen was predeceased by his wife, Deborah (Miesner) and brother, Malcolm (Peggy).

Allen worked for a number of years with Harris & Harris Construction, retiring due to illness.  He was a former member of the Northside East Bay Volunteer Fire Dept.  Allen’s favourite pastime was playing his fiddle with the Cape Breton Fiddlers Association.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

As per Allen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Donations in memory of Allen may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
