It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Pat Romard at home on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015.

Born in Sydney, Pat was the son of the late Murdock and Florence (MacKenzie) Romard.

Pat attended school at Sydney Academy and upon graduation he began working at Woolworths where he met the love of his life, Lorraine at the ‘Five and Dime’ in 1969. He was a devoted employee as secretary treasurer for Dominion Steelworkers Mutual Benefit Society for 47 years and also for the last two years with Citizenship and Immigration.

Pat was an avid golfer and member of Lingan Golf Club. He was a true Toronto Maple Leaf fan and a great bowler in previous years. Pat enjoyed life to the fullest especially, their time in Margaree and karaoke parties they hosted, where he used to sing his favourite song ‘One Night with You’. Pat will be missed by all that knew him.

Pat is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lorraine (Gillis) Romard and his only son, Robbie (Tammie) MacNeil; grandsons, Brandyn and Alex; sisters, Mary (Whitfield) Best and Ann Dawe; brothers, Paul (Suellen) and Gerard (Rose); sister-in-law, Jeannie MacNeil; stepbrother, Thomas (Judy); uncle, George Romard; in-laws, Richard (Cathy) Barrington, Peter (Patsy) Gillis, Duncan (Carmie) Gillis, Stanley (Joanne) Gillis and Gerri Gillis; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Pat was predeceased by his brother, Joe Romard, stepmother, Vivian Dooley, grandparents, Amadee and Elizabeth Romard, brother-in-law, Bernie Gillis, nephew, Petey and niece, Louise.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Pat Romard will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10-11 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
