Peggy Murphy Neville Currie passed into her “Eternal Home” on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, at the Harbourstone Enhance Care Facility, Sydney, with her loving family at her side.

Born in Whitney Pier, Peggy was the daughter of the late Patrick and Martha (MacDougall) Murphy.

Peggy leaves behind her sons, Fred (Carol) Neville and Stephen (Kim) Currie; grandchildren, Kyle (Tiffany) Neville, Brennan Neville, Sarah Currie and Hannah Currie, whom she loved dearly; special sister in-law, Lovie and brother, John Murphy, who were her caretakers and companions during her years of ill health; sister, Bridget ‘Biddie’ (Roy) Jessome; one remaining uncle, Wilfred MacDougall; as well several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her husbands, Fred Neville and Basil Currie, twin brothers, Pat and Dennis Murphy, sister, Catherine ‘Snooks’ Steele and many aunts and uncles.

Peggy enjoyed life caring for family and assisting them with love while enjoying their visits and time spent with them. She enjoyed bowling, walking, baking and was an avid reader.  Peggy cherished being of assistance to those who made her life meaningful.

Visitation for the late Margaret ‘Peggy’ (Murphy) Neville Currie will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 6-9 p.m. Memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel with Fr. Reg Currie officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service.  Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Donations may be given in Peggy’s honour to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Patient Fund.

We wish to thank all our family and friends who loved and shared their love and companionship to Peggy. Special thanks to staff at Harbourstone Facility for the care given to Peggy.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Peggy. She will be greatly missed. I thought of her as a sister growing up.
