Bernard Archibald Brown died on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Halifax, Bernard was the son of the late Angus Archibald and Charlotte Mae (Hartling) Brown.

Bernard was a truck driver for the City of Sydney Public Works dept. for 46 years.

Bernard is survived by his sons, Bernard and Roderick; daughters, Mary Witzell and Catherine (Karl) Kleinschmidt and grandchildren, Kayla, Emma and Jacob Witzell and Eric and Alex and Kleinschmidt; and his sister, Ethel Andrews.

Besides his parents, Bernard was predeceased by his wife, Catherine ‘Kay’ Brown, brother, Basil and sister, Elsie Cahill.

In keeping with Bernard’s wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral mass to celebrate the life of Bernard Archibald Brown will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, Sydney with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Interment will take place in St. Barra’s Cemetery, Christmas Island.

Donations in memory of Bernard may be made to Parkinson Society – Maritime Region or St. Barra’s Cemetery Fund.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
