We regret to announce the death of Lorraine (Keough) Brookman, which occurred on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney.
Born and raised in Whitney Pier, she resided the past 40 years in Northside East Bay. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Anne (MacRae) Keough.
Lorraine was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish for most of her life and then of St. Mary’s Parish, East Bay. Lorraine worked for many years in the laundry service including Vale’s, White Circle and Snow White.
Lorraine is survived by her son, John David, Ontario, and grandson, Jordan. She is also survived by sister, Mildred Hooper; brothers, Andrew ‘Buddy’ and David Keough; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, sisters, Helen Dwyer, Evelyn Murphy, Rita Costello, Tillie Campbell, Rosie Duff and Bernice Campbell and brother, Maurice Keough.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Mar. 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, with celebrant to be her nephew, Father Paul Murphy. Following the mass a reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in memory of Lorraine may be made to Holy Redeemer Building Fund.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
