73, Whitney Pier

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Ronald ‘Ron’ French on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Sydney, on Jan. 4, 1940, dad was the son of the late Cecil and Evelyn (Lively) French.
Ron was always there to lend a hand to anyone. He loved the sport of fishing but never caught a fish and loved to take special walks at Dominion beach. Ron became well known as the candy man to many of his friends.

Ron will be lovingly remembered by his companion, Dianne Manning; son, Ron (Sandra); daughter, Joanne (Michael) Ling; grandchildren, Jessica, Kevin and Bryan French. Ron is also survived by his siblings, Peggy (Eric) Brophy, Beverly (Elmer) Muise, Germaine (Ken) McLeod, Debbie (Jack) Lessie and David (Mary) French; sister-in-law, Annette; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, dad was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia (Candelora); brothers, Johnnie, Bobby, Terry and Eddie; brother-in-law, Harry Burt, in addition his mother and father-in-law, Lucy and James Candelora.

Funeral service to celebrate the life of Ronald ‘Ron’ French will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the funeral home reception area following the service. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Send an online condolence.
